Waitress Mom

Friends wonder about my heavy tip to that waitress in a Thai restaurant.

She came from Thailand to the USA five years ago. Both husband and wife work hard to ensure their kids get the best of America's education. They are sending their four kids (read again, 4) to the city's prime suburb private school, where each child costs at least a thousand dollars a month. They drive old cars and live in tiny rented houses to ensure their kids get the best education.

Koi saari zindagi girta parta hai magar iman aur sirate mustaqeem ki daulat nahi milti. Aur kuch khushnaseeb sonya jese hote hain ke 21 baras ki jawani main hi, dayare gair main rehte, angrezi bolte, jeans pehnte, dukhon ke pahar jelte - us allah ke ho jaate hain. Sonya aur rabia basri main koi ziyada faraq thori hoga !

I don't think shabe qadar is limited to one night of Ramadhan (That one night is just a ritual and sign of more deeper meaning). I believe it's a 'given moment' which could happen in anyone's life - obviously a few pious and chosen - not limited to any religion. It's a 'given moment' in which man gets bestowed with the spark which connects him with the eternal, with oneness as described by Sufis as - 'manorialism.' It is a moment beyond time and space, which is eternal and like a big infinite circle full of peace, knowledge, and harmony.

Hur kisi ki zindagi main kamzor lamhe aate hain jub jazbaat ke bahao main zabt ke sare band toot jaate hain. Mujh pe bhi aese lamhat aaye hain aur tum pe bhi aaye honge.

Duniya main ye bhi aik ajeeb log hote hain. Larai, jhagre ya ilzaamon ki maar dhaR kiye bagair aik sidhi si baat soch ker aur sara dukh apne ander simat ker, mushkilon se chup chap guzar jaate hain.

Kiya ye sach hoga ke is duniya main aane or jaane ka waqt hum khud mutaiyyan kerte hain aur ooper wala sirf muskura ke us pe mohar laga deta hai ?

Aur jab us ne gurrate huwe mera naam le ker mujhe danta to na to mujhe gusse aaya aur na hi dar laga bulke achha laga - ke koi to hai mujhe meri bewaqoofion se rokne wala!

All hats off to Amish people

I have always been fascinated with the Amish community, and now I have so much respect for them. After going through such a horrendous tragedy when their children were shot dead without any reason (unbelievable crime ! How someone can even think of doing that) - how they reacted so gracefully is impressive. You may disagree with their beliefs, but I see their character as a 'role model' for other communities and religions. They are at least honest and sincere in their teachings of forgiveness.
