Advise

Those of you who are in the professional world, let me advise you again
(here, here, here, here)

1. There are no friends - you may have good colleagues but remember - "dost hota nahi har haath milane wala".

2. Speak as needed. Neither less nor more.

3. Don't gossip or say anything bad about anyone. Gossip travels faster than light, except it's a boomerang.

AoA,

Thank you for this piece of advise.

Janab Mystic-soul, I would like to ask you that do you tolerate people who copy-paste your lines (esp quotes & advises) and store them up in their blog ? I save useful lines for later reading (why not after retirement:) ). I do not gain anything (except knowledge) from this nor Im intended to in future.

You are always welcome....

You can save even whole blog....This blog is all about sharing life

i agree with the third one.

i'm not too sure about the first two. it depends on what your are looking to get out of your professional engagement.

Adnan..hope things going well with you..

Important thing is to keep a line between professional career and personal life.

Adnan has a point here
I think there are situations in life when one should talk more than usual and also situations when one should keep mum. Does that makes the #2 statement imbalanced?
#1- This is difficult because you are talking of real friend, a person completely reliable and predictably helpful always even when he/she is angry
Such definition is very restrictive which is what #1 is all about. Good advice definitely worth taking down

Dear Uncle...

#1 - In my 15 years of career, I am convinced - its not good to mix friends (I mean real friends) and career. Its important to keep a definite line between career and friends (again real friends with whom you can share your weaknesses)

#2 - Its like..'pehle tolo phir bolo'

I have always believed it is important not to "burn bridges" especially in a professional environment--you never know when who, what, where, when or how you might need your accumulated resources through your professional life. But in this day and age, I think it is important to be aware that cyber space affords an opportunity to the vindictive--so remember:
4. Don't record a message on someone's answering machine you don't want to hear on You Tube.
5. Don't send an email you don't want to see published on Facebook.

Very very true saima...

Email should be use very cautiously at work....I know friends who work in IT for corporate offices and they keep very strict tab on whats going on at each computer. Email is an official record. Any single word can comeback to haunt you....

Also, I know people who either didn't get job or lost job due to facebook comments...

NEVER EVER CHAT from work's computer...every single statement get recorded....

One physician I know, who was reprimended as his cell phone bills carry 80% personal calls from phone given by hospital.
