That thing …forever!

I wrote about this young man Rohit from Bombay before on my blog and truly believe on his strength of short story writing. He sometimes remind me of Chekhov.

"He was lying on the floor, resting his both hands back to support his body which would have otherwise fallen down. He scanned around the house looking at the walls and the roof and the floor and the door and the windows. They all look quieter. Quieter than what they all seems a night before this day when they all were filled with the cacophony of their fights, echoing the hate they would spill off on each other. Could it be the suffocation of that hatred which is responsible for what happened – he wondered. He then fixed his eyes on one end of the white sheet, the end opposite to where she was staring at....."

On Faith, Trust and Hope!

I usually don't put stuff coming from forwarded mail or facebook, but this is worth sharing and go with the theme of this blog!

1. Once, all villagers decided to pray for rain, on the day of prayer all people gathered and only one boy came with an umbrella. THAT'S FAITH.

2. Example of the feeling of a one year old baby. When you throw him in the air, he laughs because he knows you will catch him. THAT'S TRUST.

3. Every night we go to bed, we have no assurance to wake up alive the next morning but still we have plans for tomorrow.
THAT'S HOPE....

Perfectionist!

She was an artist! She was a perfectionist! She married a perfect man! And, She gave birth to a perfect child! She raised her as a perfect daughter! She kept her house immaculate! Her kitchen was perfect!

And one day, she gave birth to a child with down syndrome. It did rattle her from deep inside. Happiness was gone. She was tormented and anguished to the depth of her heart. There was no solace. There was no way to reverse it! Nothing was perfect anymore. Depression went beyond post-postpartum. No medicine cured it. She became bedridden. She seriously starts considering suicide!

But one day, she found a perfect remedy for her problem. She run-away with her perfect child, leaving all her imperfections behind!

Last I saw her husband (not perfect anymore) sitting outside a special-need school waiting for his kid!

And it is said that she is somewhere in Europe raising her perfect daughter, married another perfect man, and is learning to make her paintings 'more perfect.'

On 'God's Particle' and "Maraqbaye Maut"!

In this blog, I have described my obsession, quest, and opinion about paranormal stuff.

1996 was one remarkable year. I used to live alone in an apartment in Chicago. In the summer of 1995, I start experimenting with OOB (Out of Body) exercises. There was no Internet (at least for me). I spend hours and hours at Barnes & Noble reading books on its technique. In between, I found a book on "Maraqbaye Maut" (Death Yoga). After a few months, as my fear started subsiding and I started getting more comfortable, I experienced "vibes" (shaking of the whole body) before the astral body detached from the material body. I often floated on the roof or went down under the bed - away from my body! And in a few instances, sailed to places that were beyond comprehension. I doubt it was anything like or near death! It may even be just hypnagogic seizures or pure neuro-psychiatry.

But one thing was sure - I had this extreme wish not to return to my body during those moments. I sincerely hoped to die. The sense of 'latafat' (lightness) was mind-boggling. At least I remember one moment when I saw all my loved ones happily living without me. No! I didn't pass through any tunnel or see any light described in NDE (Near Death Experience).

I am a very skeptical person. I can't be spiritual as I tend to ask for reasoning. Banda banne ke liye janne se ziyada manne ki shart hai. For a long time, I scratch my head looking for an explanation for those phenomena. I firmly believed there was nothing religious or spiritual about it.

This discovery of God's particle helped me understand this astral body's levitation from the body. It explains the release of energy from the mass with a few mental exercises. If you feel compelled, google it. It's an exciting discovery of science! (here)

(If you want to experience and have fun with OOB - be my guest. But those "Vibes" - shaking of the whole body - will cripple your muscles for 2/3 days - or maybe I am myopathic, I guess)

The Dying Art of Letter Writing

I was cleaning my some old bags and found many letters written to me (or by me) before the advent of emails! It is unfortunate that art of letter writing is dying. Email can't convey the same emotional depth as a letter witten with ink! But I guess everything has tendency to 'fana'! Once existed the art of carving pictures on walls of caves too!

Following is one of the finest letter from Urdu literature, written by  Chaudhri Mohammed Ali Rodolvi (one progressive writer from All India 1930s time) to his daughter Huma Begum - narrated by great Zia Mohiuddin.

What makes a letter great is always its last line. You will find all in this letter - humor, philosophy, love, emotional and intellectual depth.

False Feedback

A child was singing a song. Mother said, " you are a great singer."

Father said to Mother that child singing is awful, and if we don't give the proper feedback, the whole school will make fun when he goes on stage. She got mad and continued false feedback!

And this is what exactly happened. The child was hooted so bad on stage; he never tried to sing ever in life!

Ted!

Ted is a new Hollywood flick.

Why did I like this movie? Because it is rough (I mean rough). It is very different, full of sarcasm and black humor, but deals with the reality of life! ---- and watching Mila Kunis is a bonus!

The theme of the movie is straightforward. You better not tell your love to leave old relationships - no matter how abnormal they are - as a condition for a new relationship. You have to respect previous old relationships!! Otherwise, it creates more complications and more unhappiness.

The story revolves around John, who has a very sarcastic living Teddy bear. Now his relationship with his girlfriend is at stake because of Ted's unusual character!

Pardah!

(Read in Newspaper Q n A section)

"Maulvi sahab! mera dost aik aesi larki se shadi kerne ja raha hai - jo har larke ke bister main ghus jaati thi. Kiya mujeh use ye baat bata deni chahiye?"

"Jis baat ke pardah Allah ne rakha huwa hai - tum kaun hote ho use uthane wale. Agar Allah ko manzoor hota to khud hi - us larke tak - is inkashaf ka koi wasila ker deta"!
