It was little shocking when I came to know that Ali Haider (whose songs purani jeans, khushi aai bare din baad etc were my favorites) - has quit music and became a maulvi!

After Eid I am getting in now.
Very good post. I was obliged to listen even though my hearing is less than poor.
For many reasons. Music was so dominant in my early life (well, actually up until my hearing almost shut down) that had I not taken up medicine, I would have taken up this as profession. Secondly the relation of his story got me into the question of birth abnormalities and abortion etc., and you know I am so much into it. Thirdly, It reminded me of Yusuf Islam's experience that turned him into Muslim from Christian (Cat Stevens)
Finally I am familiar with the emotional turmoil we go through under such circumstances that he described and I felt for him and indeed applaud his firm decision inspite of the fact that music has Jaiz and Najaiz parts and as he mentioned he would not go into those questions.
Allah SWT has his own ways of making 'suggestions' to some pure souls.
