An important lesson

It took me decades to learn this simple lesson as a physician. Modern medicine tends to train the physicians to treat the diseases, not to heal the humans. There is a huge difference.

That is why they call him father of medicine
I have been trained at the time when each blood test was done at a time and cost of tests was prohibitive On top of that our teachers would ask us to diagnose before teats or X rays were done and history was all that was available so we had to catch the depth of history/family history background place of origin etc (Know the person)

Reminds of what house does in the show House M.D.

he would know the person and family history to diagnose.

Thanks for this :)

This important lesson is easily forgotten in the era of ... Always watch " your back " and we always have to cover our A$$es so we don't get in "trouble " and can safely stay away from the ambulance chasers :)

Uncle:: Agree:: Though laboratory/radiological based medicine may make medicine more precise it may take away the soul of healing. Nowadays I see physicians not even touching the patients, rather treating the "EMR" (electronic medical record).

Aly ::: I really like House! Used to be my fav show when I had the luxury of time. (Where have you been, young man!)

B n stilettos: Isn't it sad, the way we practice? Since day one of my residency, I heard all these words !!!
