I think from technical perspective Krishan Chandar was a better short story writer than Minto.

I am surprised again as you were about Hafeez Jalandhri. I was looking at life story of Manto and found he failed Matric exam twice and was a college drop out but see his writings and the genius as story teller Pakistan Government posthumously has given him credit but I remember telling you I frequently saw him in front of Lakshmi building and remember seeing him in medical ward admitted with Cirrhosis (alcoholic) and that is what killed him at such a young age, 42. He started writing about age 21 and died in 21 years but see how much stuff he was able to write and I did not know he was living in that building It was a short walk from my hostel (Medical College) and we used to walk almost daily to that Mall road
Interesting.....I take pride in meeting Faiz Sahab, Faraz, and a few other notables but indeed Manto is another kind to know.
Many geniuses drop out from formal education!
