On my one previous post (here), 'Beyond' wrote a comment. I agree completely and don't feel like adding anything except to answer that probably we use monogamy as a tool to treat our insecurities.
"I feel sad for a whore in any case. The term itself is very derogatory towards female gender. There is no male equivalent for men in common language. The idea that a woman will know men better if she has sold herself physically is revolting. It may be true but paints a very bleak picture of this world. Why is the idea of marriage so appealing to masses? If a woman is with several men, it is considered a taboo. If she is married to a man, all is well. Monogamy makes us very comfortable. Please blog about it mystic, someday."

What I meant is that a woman is considered normal if she is in a monogamous relationship. In other words, she is tied and controlled. If a man is polygamous, which he is allowed to in some religions and cultures, it is considered all right. My comment was that more or less, for individuals in society, a married woman is less threatening. Why is that? A single man is not heard of in there 30s or 40s, a single woman in 20s is shocking for some.
Interesting but I fully agree with both of you. I am unable to tell the difference between "whore" and "slut" may be whore is professional and slut is not. There may be more differences but I always placed slut as a derogratory word until the other day I saw Melissa HP talk show in which she presented girls wearing "I am proud to be a slut" kind of things and talks were directed toward that also (I did not see the whole program) which I got completely confused and am still so. My hearing being deficient I must depend on captioning and so my question to both of you or any other reader is to enlighten me
Uncle! My knowledge of slangs in English is as good as yours but I guess you are right. Personally, I feel whore (derogatory term) do this for need and slut do this for approval of herself.....Shayed?
