S(P)IN

Yasuh Maseeh se bhi 5 ya 6 sadiyoN pehle hindustan main bihar ki zameen pe aik dana shaks guzra tha - Jis ka naam tha Mahavir - jise 'Jain' mazhab ka perukaar apna bhagwaan maante hain.

Mahavir ne kaha tha: "Is zameen ka koi insaan har subah apne ghar se ye soch ker nahi niklta ke aaj gunah ke kaam karun ga - magar din guzarne ke saath saath - apne piyaroN ya khud ke liye - duniya ki chahat ki taraf khinchta chala jata hai - aur woh apne dimag main gunah ka koi jawaz paida ker leta hai".

- Apne sin ko koi spin de kar khud ko itminaan dila deta hai

Insaan bara kamina hai - apne har galat kaam ka jawaz lafzon main dhundh leta hai.

Mahaveer is dead right. Sin written in Urdu/Arabic gets the spin as it is the middle letter of Insan and can be either Ins (bhoolnay wala) or Uns (mohabbat wala) depending on zabar ya pesh
If you let it remain in English letters then the meaning is obvious as you see. Mystic this a remarkable spin of seen, if you let me spell it this way
Enjoyed it thanks
I have met only one Jain here in USA

I wonder keh humare dimaagh ka humari rooh (antar--aatma) pe kitna ikhtiyaar hai :-/

Will Durant summarizing Schopenhauer writes: (excerpts from "The Story of Philosophy" book) <<>>:

The intellect may seem at times to lead the will, but only as a guide leads his master; the will "is the strong blind man who carries on his shoulders the lame man who cannot see."

We do not want a thing because we have found reasons for it, we find reasons for it because we want it. We even elaborate philosophies and theologies to cloak our desires. Hence Schopenhauer calls man the "metaphysical animal": other animals desire without metaphysics.

Hence the uselessness of logic: no one ever convinced anybody by logic; and even logicians use logic only as a source of income. To convince a man, you must appeal to his self-interest, his desires, his will.

Men are only apparently drawn from in front; in reality they are pushed from behind. Intellect is merely the minister of foreign affairs. Nature has produced it for the service of the individual
will.

Character lies in the will, and not in the intellect, character
too is continuity of purpose and attitude: and these are
will.

Popular language is correct when it prefers the "heart"
to the "head"; it knows (because it has not reasoned about
it) that a "good will" is profounder and more reliable than a
clear mind. And when it calls a man "shrewd," "knowing," or "cunning" it implies its suspicion and dislike.

Brilliant qualities of mind win admiration, but never affection; and
"all religions promise a reward . . ." for excellence of the will or heart, but none for excellence of the head or understanding.

Sorry for spamming your post above but I thought it was relevant.

In short I think "Dimaagh ka amooman kaam jawaz paida karna hi hai. Aur log shayad hi soch samajh kar khud pe bandishe lagaate hain :-o

Uncle: I thoroughly enjoyed and loved and shared (with 2 of my friends) your wordplay of "Insaan"

Books and S: I think when we do things knowingly deep inside that we are doing a wrong thing, our conscious keep pounding us from inside. (wese main ne aese kai kamine dekhe hain jin ko koi faraq nahi paRta)

Anony: I want to blog that quotation you gave above but I am not sure how much is a quotation and how much is your own words. Let me know, so I can blog that part. It is absolutely a classic.

Agar dimaagh kisi aur pe ghalti na thop sake to shayad wo baqi logoN ko bhi bura samajh ke khud ko dilaasa dega!

"Eemandaar banda wo hai jo ab tak chori karte hue na pakRa gaya ho"

Don't know much about religion :-( But isn't it true that being "naive/innocent" and having "heart in the right place" go together and so intelligence is not admired much!

Wo kitna sidha hai / bhola hai <<---- It can mean either the person is really kind or just lacks "sophistication." Since both these qualities often appear together so the words "simplicity/sidhaa-pan" carry either of these two meanings :-/

@Mystic-Soul:

It is all copied verbatim from Will Durant's book namely "The Story of Philosophy." The copied portion is from his commentary on Schopenhauer life and work!
