On top of that, though his language is very simple, he is so brutal....Main peechle 25 baras se Manto ko parh raha hun, aur har baar us ka qad pehle se aur bara ho jata hai.

"Before 1947, Muslims offended with the fahashi (obscenity) of Saadat Hasan Manto took him repeatedly to court, only to hear the Muslim judges under British Raj say that what Manto wrote was high culture, not obscenity. After 1947, every time he was dragged before the court for obscenity, he was convicted! The judge in Karachi gave him tea in the evening and told him he was the country’s greatest short story writer, but convicted him for obscenity in the morning".

jis ne manto ko nahin padha use partition ke baare mein kuch nahin maaloom (and i think studying about the partition is more pertinent than cramming the freedom struggle...to really understand pakistan and india both)
aur sirf partition hi nahin -miyaan biwi ya aurat mard ke rishton mein jo layers hoti hain jinhe baaki authors samajh nahin paate ya bol nahin paate woh baatein manto samajh paaye!!!
aur woh baatein 2007 mein utni hi sach hain jitni 1937 mein rahi hogi.

Magar Minto ke dramon pe aik zamane main Pakistan TV ne serial banaii thi - in 1970s but I could not find it again.
