A quote on old age!

Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me, I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved.  ~ Will Rogers

Five More Minutes…

A woman sat down next to a man on a bench near a playground one fine Sunday Morning.

"That's my son over there," she said, pointing to a little boy in a red T-shirt who was gliding down the slide.

"He's a fine looking boy," the man said. "That's my son on the swing in the blue T-shirt." Then, looking at his watch, he called to his son.

"What do you say we go, Jack?" Jack pleaded, "Just five more minutes, Dad. Please?" "Just five more minutes." The man nodded and Jack continued to swing to his heart's content. Minutes passed and the father stood and called again to his son. "Time to go now?" Again Jack pleaded, "Five more minutes, Dad.

Just five more minutes." The man smiled and said, "O.K."

"My, you certainly are a patient father," the woman responded.

The man smiled and then said, "My older son John was killed by a drunk driver last year while he was riding his bike near here. I never spent much time with John and now I'd give anything for just five more minutes with him. I've vowed not to make the same mistake with Jack. He thinks he has five more minutes to swing. The truth is, I get five more minutes to watch him play."

Life is not a race. Life is all about making priorities.

Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards.

Maseeha!

I was 5 years old when first time I saw Jesus on cross.

"Aik sawal tha jo 'puberty' se mere andar khol raha tha, jis ka koi tassali bakhsh jawab nahi milta tha - kai kitabain khangali, kayi sayanoN se poocha - magar kisi ke jawab main koi gheraai nahi thi. Ya to mazhab ki 'nail polish' thi, ya phir falsafe ki gardan thi - magar jawab kahin nahi tha."

"Aakhir woh kiya wajah rahi hogi ke yasu maseeh (Jesus) - yun khamoshi se - dusre insaanoN ke liye suli charh gaya hoga"...........................

But after working 20 years in profession of Medicine and spending many sleepless nights near bedside of patients with my other devoted colleagues - I can see how saving lives can become an addiction...And there is a reason, despite being a Muslim, I carry a Jesus' cross for years with me.

Web of Existence!

A mouse looked through the crack in the wall to see the farmer and his wife open a package. "What food might this contain?" the mouse wondered. He was devastated to discover it was a mousetrap. Retreating to the farmyard, the mouse proclaimed the warning: "There is a mousetrap in the house! There is a mousetrap in the house!"

The chicken clucked and scratched, raised her head and said "Mr.Mouse, I can tell this is a grave concern to you, but it is of no consequence to me. I cannot be bothered by it." The mouse turned to the goat and told him "There is a mousetrap in the house! There is a mousetrap in the house!" The goat sympathized, but said "I am so very sorry, Mr.Mouse, but there is nothing I can do about it but pray. Be assured you are in my prayers." The mouse turned to the cow and said "There is a mousetrap in the house! There is a mousetrap in the house!" The cow said "Wow, Mr. Mouse. I'm sorry for you, but it's no skin off my nose."

So, the mouse returned to the house, head down and dejected, to face the farmer's mousetrap alone.

That very night a sound was heard throughout the house - like the sound of a mousetrap catching its prey. The farmer's wife rushed to see what was caught. In the darkness, she did not see it was a venomous snake whose tail the trap had caught. The snake bit the farmer's wife. The farmer rushed her to the hospital and she returned home with a fever. Everyone knows you treat a fever with fresh chicken soup, so the farmer took his hatchet to the farmyard for the soup's main ingredient. But his wife's sickness continued, so friends and neighbors came to sit with her around the clock. To feed them, the farmer butchered the goat. The farmer's wife did not get well; she died. So many! people came for her funeral, the farmer had the cow slaughtered to provide enough meat for all of them. The mouse looked upon it all from his crack in the wall with great sadness.

So, the next time you hear someone is facing a problem and think it doesn't concern you, remember: when one of us is threatened, we are all at risk. We are all involved in this journey called life. Each of us is a vital thread in another person's tapestry.

Ma ki galat Nasihat!

"Ye sach he ke main ne 27 saal ki umar main 55 saal ke aadmi se shadi apni marzi se ki. Ye aik 'compromise' tha. Use jawan larki chahiye thi, mujeh rupe paisoN ki aasoodgi chahiye thi.

Us ki pehli shadi se 3 jawan auladain thi aur usne pehle hi keh diya tha ab aur aulad nahi. Jub roz-marra ki zindagi aik ma'mul ban gai to mujeh baat kerne wale mard ki zaroorat mehsoos hui.  Aur phir wahi huwa jo hota hai. Hamari talaq to nahi hui magar hum aik 'parallel' zindagi guzar rahe hain. Ab use juwe, sharab aur shayeri ka shoq hai aur mere 'friends' hain, jin se main ghantoN phone/chat pe bataiN kerti hun.

Main us ki 'trophy wife' hun aur woh mera 'sugar daddy'!

Magar is saare 'mess' ki zimadar meri Ma hai! jis ki galat nasihatoN ne mera dimag kharab ker diya!

Mera baap aik shareef aadmi tha. Aik aam si naukri ke siwa use paise kamane ka koi aur tareeqa maalum nahi tha. Achhi bhali sufed-poshi ki zindagi thi.... magar roz amma ghar main jhagra kerti thi.  Pehla jhagra amma ne mere saamne VCR khareedne pe kiya tha! Abba ne aakhir idhar udhar se udhaar ker ke VCR khareeda! Magar amma ki khawishoN ka koi aakhir nahi tha! ...Bil-akhir abba Dubai chale gaye.. Amma ko kabhi ye gam nahi khaya ke abba dur rehte hain - woh har mahine 'bank' main paisoN ka intazar kertiN. ...Bus mere dimag main ye baat daal di ke..shohar aesa dhundho jo khub paisa kamaye aur tumhe raanioN ki tarah rakhe!

Amma ka Dubai se pet nahi bhara to abba America aa gaye.....magar amma ki farmaishoN ki chakki band nahi hui..... House, gari, disney, las vegas - abba ne kiya kiya jatan nahi kiye magar amma ka rona band nahi huwa.

Aur phir main ne is burhe aadmi se shadi ker li......

Amma ye tum ne kiya kiya! ..Mian Biwi ke saath nibhane aur ghar banane wale rishte ko kesa karobar bana diya, jis main khud tumhari beti bazari ho gai!

Himmat!

"Tum main itni taqat kese aa gai?"

"Jab raat ke andhere main, aapke bister main woh mard ghus aaye jo aap ki bahen ka shohar ho to taqat aaye na aaye, magar itni himmat zaroor aa jati hai, jis se koi bhi insaan dusre insaan ke gale pe churi pher sakta hai"

Bargaining!

"I never see you Bargaining. Why is that? People may rip you off. It's not smart"

"May be!........Magar jab mere Allah ne mujeh bagair 'bargain' kiye itna kuch de diya hai to mujeh uske bandoN se bargain kerne ka kiya haq paunchta hai"

Why We Shout In Anger

A Hindu saint who was visiting river Ganges to take bath found a group of family members on the banks, shouting in anger at each other. He turned to his disciples smiled 'n asked. 'Why do people shout in anger shout at each other?'

Disciples thought for a while, one of them said, 'Because we lose our calm, we shout.'

'But, why should you shout when the other person is just next to you? You can as well tell him what you have to say in a soft manner.' asked the saint. Disciples gave some other answers but none satisfied the other disciples.

Finally the saint explained: "When two people are angry at each other, their hearts distance a lot. To cover that distance they must shout to be able to hear each other. So when you argue do not let your hearts get distant, Do not say words that distance each other more."

Son!

When my son was born he had to sit in a car seat facing rear but at completion of first year he was seating forward with strap on car seat! ...And as time flied, he graduated to booster seat and by age 10/80 lbs, he was allowed to sit only with seat belt - but still in back seats. Last week, as I needed help with directions, I asked him to come and sit at passenger side in front.

It did not strike me till I started driving. A sudden rush of emotions engulfed me. My son was sitting like an adult in front with me! For a moment, he looked like a mature grown human being. I felt like 'task accomplished'!

Charlie Chaplin met Albert Einstein

"What I admire most about your art", Albert Einstein said, "is its universality. You do not say a word, and yet ... the world understands you."

"It's true", replies Chaplin. "But your fame is even greater: the world admires you, when nobody understands you."

Aik Dua jo qabool hui!

Pakistan se America residency kerne aaya tha. Residency milna koi itna asan kaam nahi tha. America aa ker waqt guzarta raha aur main 'shahar shahar gali gali' residency ki talash main phirta raha. ...paise khatam hone lage....doston se udhar lene shuru kiye....din main residency ki tag-o-do kerta aur raat ko aik gas station pe job kerta....Jin dostoN ko residency mili, woh achhe the - mujeh saath rakh liya.

"Residency NRMP Match" aaya - guzar gaya, "Post-Match" bhi guzar gaya....agle saal ke phir 'Match' aa gaya magar residency ki koi offer ban nahi aati thi. Samjh nahi aata tha kiya ho raha hai. Ab tak 3000 programs main apply ker chuka tha. USMLE ke 'scores' bhi 'competative' the..magar aik band gali thi!

"Residency Match" September se shuru hota hai aur March tak chalta hai magar January tak muamla thanda ho jaata hai. December aa chala tha magar yun mehsoos hota tha, is saal bhi residency nahi mile gi!

Main bunyadi tor per atheist na sahi to kam as kam 'agnostic' zaroor tha. Namaz, mazhab, Quran, duaoN se kosoN dur tha!. ...Hamare 'room-mates' main aik sahab bare mazhabi the. Namaz parhte, tape-recorder per hamd-o-naat bhi sunte!

Aik sham ghar aaya to bohat 'depress' tha! lagta tha aansu nikal parain ge! main ne yunhi deewar ke saath bethe bethe tape-recoder on kiya to 'Attaullah Khan EsaKhelvi' ki naat lagi thi "Shahe Madina" (yasrab ke wali saare nabi tere dar ke sawali).....Maalum nahi ye meri frustration thi ya EsaKhelvi ki awaz ka saher tha ya mere andar ki koi awaz thi..mere aansu nikal pare..jun jun naat chalti gai meri hictki bandh gai..Us ke baad sabri qawal ki "Bhar de jholi" shuru hui to laga mera dil uchal ker seene se bahir aa jaaye ga..aur mera kaleja phat jaaye ga!

...Rote rote Allah jaane kab aankh lag gai...

Aankh khuli to khud apni guzri kefiyat pe bohat hairan hua! Apne rone ko apne frustration ka faryadi samjh ke jaane diya.... aur phir usi bhag doR main juth gaya...

4 din baad aik saath mujeh 2 hospitals se Fed-Ex ke envelops mile aur dono main residency ki pre-match offers thi! (On interviews done in previous post-match!!)

Mujeh Makkah ja ker Haj kerne ki to koi ragbat nahi ...magar aik baar Madina jaake 'hare gumbad' ke samne apni topi utar ke, apne sar ko jhuka ker, kehna chahta hun... "Thank You Sir! I owe you a lot!"

An amputated finger!

A King had a male servant who, in all circumstances always said to him; My king, do not be discouraged because everything God does is perfect, no mistakes. One day, they went hunting and a wild animal attacked the king, the servant managed to kill the animal but couldn't prevent his majesty from losing a finger. Furious and without showing gratitude, the King said; if God was good, I would not have been attacked and lost one finger. The servant replied, 'despite all these things, I can only tell you that God is good and everything He does is perfect, He is never wrong'. Outraged by the response, the king ordered the arrest of his servant. While being taken to jail, he told the king again. God is Good & Perfect.

Later, he left for another hunt and was captured by savages who use human beings for sacrifice. In the altar, the savages found out that the king didn't have one finger in place, he was released because he was considered not "complete" to be offered to the Gods.

On his return to the palace, he authorized the release of his servant and said; My friend, God was really good to me. I was almost killed but for lack of a single finger I was let go. But I have a question; If God is so good, why did He allow me to put you in jail? He replied; My king, if I had gone with you, I would have been sacrificed because I have no missing finger.
